GiveIndia is a donation platform that allows you to support a cause of your choice from about 100 NGOs that have been scrutinized for transparency & credibility.
We do not raise funds for ourselves. We help you donate to these NGOs.
What makes us different is that we tell you exactly where your money went and also give you proof of it through the feedback report. We ensure that at least 90% of your contribution reaches the organization you support (as against the average of 70% for this sector).
We have reviewed over 1000 non-profit organizations from all over India to identify nearly 100 trustworthy organizations. They work on causes ranging from child welfare and education to disability, poverty, and women's empowerment to name a few.
Conceived by Venkat Krishnan, an IIM-A graduate in December 1999, GiveIndia is managed by a team of professionals with corporate backgrounds, who have dedicated their careers to making a difference. We were formally registered on April 28, 2000, as a nonprofit under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Since inception, over 30,000 donors have been able to impact over a million lives by supporting 150 organizations through GiveIndia.
Who we partner with
We work very closely with organisations at grass-root levels working for the economically and socially challenged sections. Each partner organisation goes through strict procedures before they are certified and tested for accountability and transparency. In the last 4 years, we have successfully channeled over Rs.70 million to various nonprofit organisations in India.
Our Partner Organisations
100% of the donation through this GiveIndia channel on Rediff.com will reach the NGO and cause of the donor’s choice, and the payment can be made through secure Rediff payment gateways.
For each donation made, the donor receives a detailed feedback of how their money was used. To see a sample of a feedback click here.
Our Supporters
GiveIndia has been able to provide services to donors thanks to the support and goodwill of:

-
TV and print media groups like STAR TV, Sony and Zee - for free advertising support
-
-
ICICI OneSource - for support in customer management solutions through their call center capabilities.
Our Team
GiveIndia is owned and managed by GIVE Foundation, a nonprofit organisation run by alumni from institutes like LSE, IIMA, TISS, companies like BCG, Unilever and an array of professionals who have quit successful corporate careers to add meaning to their lives.
Our team consists of around 22 employees and several volunteers. The employees receive regular salaries; but they are way below industry standards. Our volunteers work with us for free.

What we do
Internet Giving
GiveIndia pioneered online donations in India in the year 2000 and was one of the first worldwide. We have channeled over Rs50,000,000 to various non-profit organizations through the Internet.
We run the following "giving" websites -
- GiveIndia.org [for Indian and other international donors],
- GiveWorld.org [for US based donors],
Our site is designed as a "Philanthropy Exchange" that allows donors to donate directly to any of the "listed" non-profit organizations. For more information, contact - info@giveindia.org
Payroll Giving
Our Payroll Giving Program is designed to allow employees of participating companies to donate as little as Rs50 every month, directly from their salaries.
An employee can choose to educate a child, help a blind person see or provide a wheelchair to a disabled person, among other options.
The ICICI Group, STAR TV, IMRB, HDFC Bank, Hewlett-Packard, HSBC, H&R Johnson, WPP Media, ACC have supported their workforce in joining this program.
Several of these companies are also matching the contribution made by their staff, so that employees actually get to donate twice what they gave personally. In just 2 years over 3000 people have used this service.
To have your company sign with us, contact - info@giveindia.org .
Corporate Client Services
At GiveIndia we help companies design, execute and monitor a philanthropy strategy by helping them tie-up with non-profits.
Since inception in 2002, we have worked with over 15 companies in a variety of sectors. Our recent clients include Nicholas Piramal and the UK Modi Group.
We assisted the Taj Group of Hotels to develop a training module in Food Production and Housekeeping to be offered to poor youth at locations across India. This encouraged each Taj hotel train local youth and assist them with employment.
Godrej Sara Lee supported a mobile health van operated by Children's Toy Foundation in the slums of Mumbai. This had a two fold benefit - Spreading health awareness and branding opportunities for their mosquito repellant.
With Philips we designed and implemented the Arogya Kiran Fellowships for young doctors to be placed in rural India. This provided Primary Health Care in remote areas of Gujarat and West Bengal, while helping Philips get insights into telemedicine. For more information, contact - info@giveindia.org .
Listing NGOs on GiveIndia
GiveIndia uses the Credibility Alliance Norms and a few other criteria to determine whether or not an organization is eligible to be listed on the site. The criteria are objective and the entire listing process is done in a transparent manner. Our team invites applications from NGOs, verifies their documentation, obtains validations or references and if necessary, organizes a visit to the NGO, before certifying the organization's compliance with the norms. Once an NGO meets all the norms and signs an MoU with us, we list them on our website. For more information, contact - info@giveindia.org.
Over the last 5 years, the GiveIndia team has scrutinized at least 1,000 NGOs all over the country
Customized Client Services- Individuals and Foundations
The GiveIndia team helps foundations with a variety of services aimed at helping them channel their funds to the right organizations, or, having made a donation, verifying whether it was used for the purpose stated. The team works with High Net worth Individuals to help them identify and support projects that they have in their mind. For more information, contact - info@giveindia.org
Financial & Accounting Management Services
We help nonprofit organizations design, restructure and upgrade their accounting systems to help them report their financials to donors and statutory authorities in a more transparent manner. We guide and train them at every level by studying and assessing their needs and helping them plan. NGOs for whom we have designed systems include Pratham India Education Initiative, Kutch Navnirman Abhiyan, Bhuj and several others.
